CHRISTMAS TIME, OH CHRISTMAS TIME
BY FRANELLE
Christmas time, oh Christmas time.
A time to dine – a time to whine
‘Bout all the stuff we need to do,
Some say, “We don’t want to.”
Why hurry or worry about a tree?
Instead, set yourself free
From other stuff that is so frilly.
All this running and rushing just gives me a Willy.
Shopping, schmoozing, going to ‘grin-outs’
Why it’s enough to give me gout!
I don’t understand the hustle and bustle
OMG, get out the duster!
We rush and complain to each other.
What, I ask, is all the bother?
Running here…running there
For Pete’s sake, how is my hair?
If we all would learn that love is divine
And that friendship is like fine wine.
Then we could really enjoy this holiday mess
And create for ourselves all the best.
No need for giving something to return.
When, oh when will we ever learn?
That helping others is the key
To be the best we can ever be.
When it’s all over we’re sad and we’re glad
That everyone is back in their own pad.
We’ll kiss them and miss them, and then, not so much,
And vow this time we’ll for sure keep in touch.
Then real life pops up…the fun didn’t last.
We have great memories that it was a blast.
Goodbye to all headaches, pain pills and such!
How did I know it would be this much?
Back to reality with memories to boot,
Now I must don my old business suit.
My business suit is now my pajamas.
Since I’m retired, how I do love Christmas!
And can shamelessly promote my book SPLIT ENDS to all my readers, both strangers and friends.
For anyone who needs a great laugh and gifts for your friends, SPLIT ENDS by Franelle and illustrated by Michelle Hartz Armstrong is available on Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, etc.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and whatever else you celebrate!
