Autobiography in Five Short Chapters

This is so cute and deep at the same time. It’s something I’ve had for a long time. I forgot where I got it but it is by Portia Nelson. I have never met this person nor do I know anything about her, but this is brilliant. I just had to share…

AUTOBIOGRAPHY IN FIVE SHORT CHAPTERS

I

I WALK DOWN THE STREET.  THERE IS A DEEP HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK.

I FALL IN…I AM HELPLESS.

IT ISN’T MY FAULT.  IT TAKES FOREVER TO FIND A WAY OUT.

II

I WALK DOWN THE SAME STREET. THERE IS A DEEP HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK.

I PRETEND I DON’T SEE IT.

I FALL IN AGAIN.

I CAN’T BELIEVE I AM IN THE SAME PLACE, BUT IT ISN’T MY FAULT.

IT STILL TAKES A LONG TIME TO GET OUT.

III

I WALK DOWN THE SAME STREET.  THERE IS A DEEP HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK.

I SEE IT IS THERE.

I STILL FALL IN…IT’S A HABIT, MY EYES ARE OPEN. I KNOW WHERE I AM. IT ISN’T MY FAULT.

I GET OUT IMMEDIATELY.

IV

I WALK DOWN THE SAME STREET.  THERE IS A HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK.

I WALK AROUND IT.

V

I WALK DOWN ANOTHER STREET.

Enough said…have a great week and a greater life.

PS:  Please say lots of prayers and visualize people walking up to the Iuniverse display at the LA TIMES FESTIVAL OF BOOKS at UCLA and picking up SPLIT ENDS by Franelle,  Illustrated by Michelle Hartz Armstrong. And then visualize everyone wanting a copy and then wanting to make a funny movie out of it. Wouldn’t that be a hoot and a holler! The dates are April 24, 25. Thanks for your support. Hugs to all.
