The Curse of the Baby Boomer.

At first the snow was pretty and it still is, but it’s keeping me hostage in my home.

Isn’t it amazing how Mother Nature can ground you even when you didn’t do anything bad?
Yesterday I finally succumbed and stayed piled up, taking turns on the couch, then the bed. I watched movies I’ve never heard of and have now forgotten. I was just plainly too lazy to make hot chocolate.
Today I’m doing my best to wrap my brain around how to do several things on the computer…like how to upload this and that to here and there.

And I am determined to put my book on Kindle and that’s another brain twister…not a bad one, but still for someone who didn’t grow up with a computer attached to my body, it’s a challenge. And since I have no kids to help me, I’m basically at the mercy of anyone kind enough to guide me through all this wired world we all live in and sometimes hate.
But one good thing… I have added more Facebook friends today and that part is so fun of being plugged in to the universe. Then there is the matter of Facebook…it’s changing at warp speed. Just about the time I have it figured out, they go and change it all. I was informed that I would be upgraded in a few days, so I went on and upgraded. Now when I get on FB I don’t know where I am half the time.
Oh, the curse of the Baby Boomer! We know we can compute, figure out the smart phones, reading devices, etc. I mean it was OUR genes that helped produce the people who built some of this stuff anyway, but it takes us longer because all we had were pencils and paper growing up. Where is the fairness, I ask you. Why can’t genes go backward?

SIGH!!! OH WELL! Asi es la Vida! La Vida LOCO! I’m LOCO and that’s not gonna change.

Nite, Nite All

INTENTIONS

Intentions, attention, pay attention, plan and carry out intentions. HMMMM!

I woke up this morning with the INTENTION of writing on my blog which is probably not going very far since I’ve moved and just plain have not had the time or inclination.

My ATTENTION for the last half of the year was on finding a house in another state, stopping newspapers, mail, phone, utilities, internet, etc. Not to mention packing and throwing out stuff that I’ve dragged all over the country from sea to shining sea and move.

Not only have I had the intention of writing on my blog, I’ve also turned part of my attention to figuring out how to get my book on Kindle, Nook and any other reading device possible. Now my attention is two-fold.

But wait, now I have the intention of meeting new friends in our new place of residence. So I got a table for eight at a New Year’s Eve dance they had here, only knowing two of the people who were going to attend. I figured, “build it and they will come.” And they did. So now I have new friends and had a ball at the ball dancing the night away til after midnight.

Since meeting two new girlfriends and their husbands…the girls want to get together and help me with the video I want to make to advertise my book. I am going to do a scene from my book and put it on the internet. So, you see, now I have yet another INTENTION.

Guess I’d better pay ATTENTION because as I count my INTENTIONS, they out weigh my ATTENTION…OOPS, another good way to scatter myself all over the place. Note to self:

I must pay Attention to how many Intentions I plan to pay Attention to.

And if you understand all the above babbling, then I have ocean front land in Arkansas I want to sell you.

After practically having to give my computer an enema, I finally got to sit down and write.

I would certainly make me feel great if you all can relate to my scatter brainess (new made-up word…who cares). If Rachael Ray can do it, so can I.

Happy New Year Everybody.

CHRISTMAS TIME, OH CHRISTMAS TIME

CHRISTMAS TIME, OH CHRISTMAS TIME

BY FRANELLE

Christmas time, oh Christmas time.

A time to dine – a time to whine

‘Bout all the stuff we need to do,

Some say, “We don’t want to.”

Why hurry or worry about a tree?

Instead, set yourself free

From other stuff that is so frilly.

All this running and rushing just gives me a Willy.

Shopping, schmoozing, going to ‘grin-outs’

Why it’s enough to give me gout!

I don’t understand the hustle and bustle

OMG, get out the duster!

We rush and complain to each other.

What, I ask, is all the bother?

Running here…running there

For Pete’s sake, how is my hair?

If we all would learn that love is divine

And that friendship is like fine wine.

Then we could really enjoy this holiday mess

And create for ourselves all the best.

No need for giving something to return.

When, oh when will we ever learn?

That helping others is the key

To be the best we can ever be.

When it’s all over we’re sad and we’re glad

That everyone is back in their own pad.

We’ll kiss them and miss them, and then, not so much,

And vow this time we’ll for sure keep in touch.

Then real life pops up…the fun didn’t last.

We have great memories that it was a blast.

Goodbye to all headaches, pain pills and such!

How did I know it would be this much?

Back to reality with memories to boot,

Now I must don my old business suit.

My business suit is now my pajamas.

Since I’m retired, how I do love Christmas!

And can shamelessly promote my book SPLIT ENDS to all my readers, both strangers and friends.

For anyone who needs a great laugh and gifts for your friends, SPLIT ENDS by Franelle and illustrated by Michelle Hartz Armstrong is available on Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, etc.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and whatever else you celebrate!

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters

This is so cute and deep at the same time. It’s something I’ve had for a long time. I forgot where I got it but it is by Portia Nelson. I have never met this person nor do I know anything about her, but this is brilliant. I just had to share…

AUTOBIOGRAPHY IN FIVE SHORT CHAPTERS

I

I WALK DOWN THE STREET.  THERE IS A DEEP HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK.

I FALL IN…I AM HELPLESS.

IT ISN’T MY FAULT.  IT TAKES FOREVER TO FIND A WAY OUT.

II

I WALK DOWN THE SAME STREET. THERE IS A DEEP HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK.

I PRETEND I DON’T SEE IT.

I FALL IN AGAIN.

I CAN’T BELIEVE I AM IN THE SAME PLACE, BUT IT ISN’T MY FAULT.

IT STILL TAKES A LONG TIME TO GET OUT.

III

I WALK DOWN THE SAME STREET.  THERE IS A DEEP HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK.

I SEE IT IS THERE.

I STILL FALL IN…IT’S A HABIT, MY EYES ARE OPEN. I KNOW WHERE I AM. IT ISN’T MY FAULT.

I GET OUT IMMEDIATELY.

IV

I WALK DOWN THE SAME STREET.  THERE IS A HOLE IN THE SIDEWALK.

I WALK AROUND IT.

V

I WALK DOWN ANOTHER STREET.

Enough said…have a great week and a greater life.

PS:  Please say lots of prayers and visualize people walking up to the Iuniverse display at the LA TIMES FESTIVAL OF BOOKS at UCLA and picking up SPLIT ENDS by Franelle,  Illustrated by Michelle Hartz Armstrong. And then visualize everyone wanting a copy and then wanting to make a funny movie out of it. Wouldn’t that be a hoot and a holler! The dates are April 24, 25. Thanks for your support. Hugs to all.

Achoooo! Scuse me!

Howdy folks and fellow sneezers. Now that the soggy wet spring has sprung, so has the mold.

My book, Split Ends by Franelle, is going to be in the LA Times Festival of Books at UCLA. The dates are April 24 & 25. I’m not going but my book is. It will be smack in the middle of the room in the Iuniverse booth. If you know anyone in LA, tell them to stop by the Fesival and check it out

I’m looking forward to the next show I’m doing. I’ve been in ‘festival recovery’ for too long now and am raring to go again. The next one is First Monday in Canton, a once a month event that is always fun. You can meet people from all over the place. I will be showing my book again there as well as the bionic band. Whew, I need a clone. I guess my husband will have to do.

Then I’m going to the Tyler, Tx Health Expo for two days of Bionic Band fun. I told you about this in an earlier post. I found it at a book signing and it has helped me so much, I’m now doing my part to spread the word about it also. It is doing so much good for MS and fibromyalgia patients that I just can’t keep my mouth shut. As you know, I have a neurological disease which mimics MS. I can now walk straight and not stumble and fall over. And that’s always a big help.

My next big Festival is going to be the Bluegrass Festival in Canton, TX in June. I love Bluegrass. It’s another 3 day event. I can’t wait for that one. It will be a blast.

After that I will begin to travel to book signings and anything else I can find to get in to. Writing the book was the easy lonely part. Promoting the book, the fun part. Selling it…priceless.

Stay well all you sneezers out there. Til next time…

The Texas Swing Band Festvial Recovery!

AHHHH, where can I start. What a weekend Valentines was. What it was, was The Texas Western Swing Band Festival and Valentine’s Dance.

It started on Thursday, Feb. 11th (also my husband’s birthday), and lasted til Saturday, Feb 13th. It was from 10am to 10 pm each day and non stop fiddling, singing, dancing, screaming at each other over the music til your throat is raw, Sh__ Kickin’ great time. You can fill in the blank, I’m sure.

I have just about got Gene Autry’s song, DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS, out of my head. It sneaks back in when you least expect it. And then, there were the Quebe Sisters. They played the fiddles and played them very well. They were also fabulous singers, but an hour and a half of non stop fiddling just made my eardrums vibrate so weirdly that, I fear, they will never be the same again, and neither will my hearing. The piercing noise in my head has just about subsided. On the upside, I do believe the fiddling cleared all the wax out of my ears. Truly amazing!

I may never be the same again. I’ve got Texas in my soul now. These were the neatest people who came to the Festival. There were RVs all over the place. People came in from other states. Everyone is always friendly here and speaks to you whether you ever laid eyes on them or not. You could lay money out on a table and no one would take it. If you could take the mindset of all these people and implant it in everyone on the planet, the world would be a better place to live.

It was in the Civic Center.  We went there to sell my book and the bionic band that has helped my tremors and staggering from this neurological disease. I also have much more energy.

Our booth was directly across from the bands, the dance floor was in between and the food was to the left of us. We had everything we needed right there, except a bed of course. Lots of couples were on the dance floor every day and us vendors danced in the aisle. People were doing the slide and bobbing up and down instead of walking around. It was just the greatest thing. I love to dance, but have never done any Western Swing, but I’m willing to learn.

Anyway, we’re going back for more this weekend to do First Monday. I did my first book signing  the last weekend in January. I’ll be doing it every month for a while anyway. This one won’t have any bands to dance to, but we do meet people from all over the country. I’m kinda glad I created this book business since I’ve retired.

Have a wonderful week.

Back from booksigning with new help for my neurological disease…amazing!

www.franelle.mybionicband.com

Hi Everyone, Hope all is well with you. My book signing went very well in Canton and I’m off to do another this weekend at a Texas Western Swing Valentines Festival. Sounds like a fun time…lots of music, about 2,000 people registered to come and hopefully buy books too.

I guess you want to know why I put a link at the top of this page that is not related to my book. It’s because of something I found at my book signing that is helping me so much I want to share it with everyone.

It’s a Bionic Band. A new technology to help ‘tune’ your body to the correct frequency…7-9 Hz. It uses proton alignment resonance technology. I know, I know, this sounds strange, amazing, weird, whatever, but it has helped my balance, stress levels, sleep, tremors.

You see, I have a neurological disease called Spinal Cerebellar Ataxia type 2, dominant, hereditary. Some might think it to be severe vertigo, but it’s much more than that. It has taken the lives of many of my family members.

I only wish they were still on the planet to experience the relief this band has given me. If any of you know any one with balance problems, or pain or just about anything, please share this with them. And if you or your friends have been given up on by doctors, look up the National Ataxia Foundation online to review the different types and symptoms of this terrible disease that mimics MS and Parkinsons.

What, you ask, does this have to do with my book? Well,  I plan to give part of the profit to the NAF to find a cure. In the meantime, I am going to share my new-found Bionic Band.

That’s all for now. Hope all of you have a great week and stay well.

Canton, here I come…

This is the weekend of my first book signing. I’m going to be at Canton Marketplace in Canton, TX. www.firstmondaycanton.com

This is the largest flea market in the country and happens once a month. Wish all of you could be there for the fun. Have a great weekend and remember:

Follow your dream, pursue your vision. Listen to your heart rather than tangle with your mind.

It’s Friday again…

It’s Friday again! Where, oh where does the time go? I’ve been so busy getting ready for the 4 day book signing next weekend that I have lost track of all time. Between driving 30 miles here and 30 miles there because I live in no man’s land, there is precious little time to sit and write. There is not even a Wal-Mart here. Guess how far Wal-Mart is? You guessed it…30 miles in any direction. I’m not kidding. I wish I was. Not that I’m a big fan of Wally World, it’s just the closest thing to some semblance of city living. And there is no movie theater closer than 30 miles. They should name this town Thirty Miles Away from Anything!

I do like the peace and quiet of the country. No one bothers you, which was helpful while writing the book, but now, it’s eerily quiet. How I long for a little civilization closer to my house. If I could take the place where I live and transport it to 5 miles away from a city, that would be perfect.

Anyway, hope all of you have a great weekend doing what you love! Be happy!

Till next time!
